What is a vitamin?
A vitamin is an chemical substance, more precisely - an organic compound which body requires in relatively small quantities, and cannot synthesize it by itself, so it must be digested in form of food or pills/supplements.
Why do we need vitamins?
We need vitamins for many important things. They are needed for normal growth and development of a human organism, as they are used in many important processes in our bodies.
In modern age, it's recommended for almost every human being to take vitamins as a food supplement in form of pills and tablets, as much of vitamin's percentage in fruits and other foods are lost when those are transported throughout the world, and filled with various additives.(in most cases)
Vitamin C, for instance, is especially important for people in training because it helps body with it's recovery processes, which immunity system is often in bad shape.
Most people often neglect their vitamin intake, and start taking them only when they get a cold or overtrain.
That is, of course, bad way of managing your nutrition and taking care of your body because every time you can prevent something bad happening to it, you should prevent it instead of trying to fix it when it already happens.
